Please donate to LAB2P on GiveNOLA Day: May 1, 2018!

GiveNOLA Day is an event hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to inspire people to give generously to nonprofits making our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all. Donations can be scheduled now through midnight on May 1st, and each donation enters us into drawings for additional funding through the GNO Foundation. We assure you that 100% of the money donated comes to us and will be used to buy books, tapes, and postage.

Please consider making a donation to Louisiana Books 2 Prisoners to help us fulfill our mission and send free books to people who are locked up. We are a 100% donation-based group and stamps get expensive! Every little bit helps, and it means a lot to those who depend on us for books and a connection to the outside world.

$10.00 Three Package of Books

We Need Your Donations!

Thanks to a steady stream of volunteers, including two wonderful groups who spent their Spring Break with us and everyone who came out to our January pizza party, we have finally caught up on a several month backlog of letters! We are now getting packages out within a week or two or receiving requests. In 2016 we sent out 1998 packages and we are well on our way to topping 2000 this year! This is all great except it also means we are going through our money at record speed. Recently requests for composition notebooks have increased and we can hardly keep them on the shelf. We are at risk of having to cut back operations unless we can raise some funds soon. Please if you feel able to donate, do and if not spread the word to friends and family who believe in our mission of “encouraging literacy, making prison-life more endurable, and supporting prisoner interests to the best of our ability.”

Thank you to all our volunteers and see you next Sunday!
