We’re having a fundraiser to raise money for postage and educational books. ! We have been saving up really good books all year that we thought the public might want. Many of them are hardbacks or have banned content that prisons won’t allow inside. We’re having a donation-based book sale– take as many books as you want and make a donation to our nonprofit! We will also have shirts and bags with our new logo on them.
WHAT: LAB2P Fundraiser
WHEN: Sunday, April 14, from 12 – 4 p.m.
WHERE: Our normal space, 2523 George Nick Connor Dr., New Orleans LA 70119
Have a happy Mardi Gras! We’ll be back at the normal time next Sunday.
Happy New Year, everyone! We have had an unusual number of groups contact us about volunteering at our worknights this spring. We welcome volunteer groups of up to 12 people at our weekly Sunday worknights (4-7 p.m.).
The following dates are currently open for groups to volunteer:
After that, we are pretty open and haven’t scheduled much. If your group is interested in volunteering, please email us at email@example.com and let us know the number of people and the dates you would like to come.
The Book Fair is at Gasa Gasa this year! The address is 4920 Freret Street, New Orleans, LA. Hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. We will be there unloading some of the many hardbacks that we can’t send to prisons. Take them off our hands! Sliding scale donations accepted. It’s a really good selection this year– we already got rid of all the books that looked boring.
We also have brand new t-shirts designed by Hugo Girl and printed by us! They look great.
Come check out the independent writers, printers, and publishers and also come say hi to us! There will be books, magazines, letterpress stuff, posters, and probably food.
GiveNOLA Day is an event hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to inspire people to give generously to nonprofits making our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all. Donations can be scheduled now through midnight on May 1st, and each donation enters us into drawings for additional funding through the GNO Foundation. We assure you that 100% of the money donated comes to us and will be used to buy books, tapes, and postage.
Please consider making a donation to Louisiana Books 2 Prisoners to help us fulfill our mission and send free books to people who are locked up. We are a 100% donation-based group and stamps get expensive! Every little bit helps, and it means a lot to those who depend on us for books and a connection to the outside world.
